HOMA Cherngtalay raises the bar with Gold Bamboo Badge
Where others promote intentions, this property proves outcomes.

Sustainability only matters if it holds up to scrutiny. It’s built into the systems, measured month by month, and independently verified.
That’s why Phuket-based HOMA Cherngtalay is the first hotel to earn a Verified Gold Bamboo Badge from the Tuu Eco Stay Awards—recognition for hotels that turn commitment into credible results.
Backed by six months of data, reviewed by global audit network HLB International, HOMA’s results stood out across every key area of environmental performance. This is what verified impact looks like:
Energy use: just 5.69 kWh/m², supported by rooftop solar and smart automation.
Water use: 111.36 litres/m², with greywater recycling cutting usage by 30%.
Food waste: just 0.02 kg/m², all composted in partnership with the local municipality.
That’s on top of LEED Gold, EDGE certification, and a 5-star STGs Star rating from the Tourism Authority of Thailand—making HOMA one of the region’s most awarded sustainable properties.
What sets the Verified Gold Bamboo Badge apart is the accountability.
To earn it, HOMA submitted data across five core areas: energy, water, food, waste, and employment. Tuu’s systems flagged inconsistencies, benchmarked performance against global criteria, and sent it all to HLB for audit. No cherry-picking. No guesswork. Just credible reporting with results that hold up to scrutiny.
“Sustainability has been central to our concept from day one,” says Luca Dotti, HOMA’s Co-founder and MD. “But it’s the ability to measure and verify our impact that gives that work real meaning. Platforms like Tuu help us stay accountable and transparent.”
Each verified hotel also receives a public-facing Eco Profile and becomes eligible for the Eco Stay Awards, a set of independently judged accolades aligned with global standards like GSTC, UNEP and ILO.
“There’s a lot of talk in the industry about impact,” says Tuu founder Terry Blackburn. “Very few back that up with hard data. HOMA Cherngtalay does. This isn’t lip service. It’s leadership.”
As the first ever Gold Bamboo Badge recipient, HOMA now sets a high bar for others to follow—in Phuket and beyond.
